Claudia Tascón-Peña moved to the United States 30 years ago from Colombia, South America. She received undergraduate degrees in Criminal Justice and Spanish from Kentucky Wesleyan College. Currently, Claudia is a Foster Care Case Manager and Trainer for The Villages of Indiana. She joined the organization a year ago, bringing a unique perspective and experience to the team. Claudia says that being raised in Colombia has taught her valuable lessons in what it means to help and empower people, and she uses those lessons to empower others. She led several workshops for Leadership and Empowerment for the Girls of Color program in 2018. Claudia has brought a fresh perspective to the program, helping girls see themselves as leaders in the community. “I like colors… Color for me is happiness, diversity, and being different.” Mrs. Tascón-Peña wants to help the VEA girls of color to think outside the box, express themselves, and execute ideas.
